HOW ANTI WRINKLE CREAM WORKS

Anti wrinkle creams
Anti-wrinkle creams are saturating the market nowadays and lots of people are patronizing them—men and women alike, young and old. For anyone who gives great value to beauty, wrinkles are simply upsetting. Apart from good looks, however, people use anti wrinkle cream for many other reasons.
As we age older, we start to get wrinkles. Aging has been classified into 2 types, “chronological skin aging” and “photo aging”.
Chronological skin aging is physiologic alterations in skin function. Its characteristics are dry, pale skin with fine wrinkles. In contrast, photo aging results from the UV rays of sunlight, and the damage becomes apparent in sun-exposed skin. Characteristics of photo aging are dry and sallow skin, displaying fine wrinkles as well as deep furrows. Wrinkles can appear as deep in the skin or thin surface lines that once smooth surface of the skin. Wrinkles — or laugh lines, crow’s feet and “signs of character” — are caused by the constant contraction of the muscles as we use our face.
Effects of each anti wrinkle cream vary. Some anti wrinkle cream may provide major changes to your skin while others only have a very little effect on the skin. What this skin care cream really does is it hides those ugly wrinkles and moisturizes your skin so you can achieve a more beautiful face. These ingredients may act as exfoliates, antioxidants and UV protection.
Exfoliates
Exfoliating agents can speed up the removal of the outer layer of the skin cells and encourage cell turnover. Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and beta hydroxy acids (BHA) have a peeling effect. However, the effects of these compounds likely depend on their concentration and mode of application. Usually anti wrinkle cream contains 5-10% AHA while it might contain 1-2% BHA. More is not necessarily better because these products can cause irritation. Another skin treatment that you must know is microdermabrasion. This skin treatment gives better effect on cell turnover.
Antioxidants
Atmospheric pollutants are an important source of oxidative stress, and skin is particularly vulnerable to free radical damage. Antioxidants can cancel out the cell-damaging effects of free radicals. Most anti wrinkle cream contains antioxidants such as vitamins, resveratrol, glutathione, co-enzyme Q10 etc. but the exact amounts needed topically to have an effect have not been established.
Vitamin A can clear acne, is effective in reducing the number and depth of wrinkles and lightening of pigmented spots when applied topically. Vitamins E and C are naturally occurring antioxidants and free radical scavengers. They can be a valuable weapon against premature aging while increasing the shelf-life of the product.
UV protection
It’s important that anti wrinkle cream contains UV protection because the UV light can damage to the skin. UVA has a longer wavelength than UVB and penetrates deeper into the dermis causing wrinkles. UVB radiation causes the characteristic redness of sunburn and is associated with many skin cancers. SPF 15 is recommended for daily use. Anti wrinkle cream usually contains UV protection such as Titanium dioxide, Oxybenzone, or Cinoxate/Methoxycinnamate.
